Planning and Dealing With Change

Ended soon

I woke up today and the world was different. My industry had changed. The habits and likes of people had changed. Technology keeps moving along. This is because change is a constant. Yes, while each day’s change may seem small, just look at our world from only a few years ago to see the rapidly increasing pace of change in business and technology.

We are all busy. We have commitments to our families, our work and our schedules. This often leaves little time for reflection. We know what we know, but we are often clueless to the vast balance of what we do not know. Regardless of our knowledge and time constraints, the world continues to move along and change.

A look at our industry shows this, as charts from each decade prior show a completely different mix of products and services. Whether manufacturing or retailing, both practices have been digitized and thrown open to the wide world of the Internet and of course change here is ongoing.

Our customer’s habits and practices have changed, how people get and use information is transformed and almost unrecognizable from the past. How have we each adjusted?

Too often busy gets in the way. Fear and misunderstanding of the new often brings barriers and excuses, but change occurs regardless. How often do you lift your head up and see and acknowledge the changes? What have you done in your personal or business life to adapt?

While it may be challenging, disconcerting or even a bit frightening, gaining, regaining or realigning perspectives on your business and role as a leader is important. It better informs the choices you have to make, to get yourself ahead of or at least on the curve, to understand what is happening in your business or your life.

So, while we are all very busy, please make time to get yourself some information, to gain a perspective on the changes all around and to decide what to do about it. Even doing nothing is an action, so as change comes this becomes a choice. Is it the one you desire?

At bluesalve partners we embrace change, we study it and follow it as we have experienced it. If you need another look, or an open conversation and discussion on what change has happened, is ongoing and what to do about it give us a shout. We are listening.
